☯ Introduction

Touhou Project is a game franchise comprising vertically scrolling danmaku (shoot ‘em up or bullet hell) games. It was created by just one guy, ZUN, who does the programming, music composing, and script writing for all the mainline games. ZUN has a fairly lax policy to remixes and fan works, and thanks to him we now have an entire subculture of music.

There are dedicated Touhou music doujin circles that produce arrangement CDs, which are sold in limited quantity in conventions like Comiket, or the Touhou-exclusive convention Reitaisai. In April 2021, a lot of Touhou music made it to Spotify and Apple Music, making it significantly easier to legally stream and not rely on unofficial re-uploads.

This page is for showcasing doujin circles and music I like. I'm not going to be focusing on Touhou Project itself unless it is official music. You do not have to know anything about Touhou to enjoy Touhou music. Please give these tracks a listen! This page will update over time, and I will only link to official sources unless none exist.
